Sunday, June 1, 2014 - Glengarry Wines - "Superstars of the Rhone Valley" tasting; 5/31/2014-6/1/2014 (Glengarry Wines and Spirits, Victoria Park, Auckland, New Zealand): Dense purple - ruby (not quite the black of the 1990 tasted at a similar stage!). Black nose with deep smoke nuance. Very dumb, dark and primary. In the mouth, very liqueur-lije, hugely tannic and hugely concentrated Hints of curry spice in the textbook definition. Excellent fruit/oak balance (20% new), this is classic hermitage that is massive and slightly monolithic at the moment. All that is required is a minimum of 20 years. Great wine and completely true to its appellation.
