90 Points

Monday, April 16, 2012 - Thin, slightly yellow color. Reticent, slightly developed nose with hints of mushrooms, smoky minerality and a touch of spiritus fortis. Initially dry and slightly unpretentious, but quickly the wine gains more depth, sweetness and weight: developed notes of pink grapefruit, smoky minerality, some nuttiness and a hint of creaminess. A serious, heavy-set overall impression. Midpalate lacks a bit in the acid department, but less so in the finish. Rather noticeable (13,5 g/l) RS gives a soft, off-dry touch to the lengthy finish. Lemon marmalade, smoky minerality and crunchy acidity in the aftertate.

An unconventional, even aberrant Riesling - a wild card for a blind tasting! Hard to say whether this wine is suitable for ageing or if it will fade out quickly. Nevertheless, it is highly personal Riesling with a nice touch of balancing sweetness. Will give nice, weighty counterbalance to a light meal. An OK, though slightly pricey purchase at 30-35€.
