Tuesday, January 21, 2014 - Snow-Day Wines (Washington, DC): At first quite closed on the nose, but after an hour it opened and started showing tons of cherries, pepper, dried flowers and strong potpourri flavors, rose hips, lavender and sage. The palate shows crisp, refreshing acid, fine tannins and a pleasant amount of bright red fruit. Nice grip on the palate, but very clean. No vanilla cola here, this wine is more about the earth, herbs and fresh red fruit. Long, tangy finish. Delicious stuff, this Alpine Vineyard will improve for quite a few years.
