Friday, August 30, 2013 - Enjoyed at Pappa's Brothers Dallas. Popped and poured by the wonderfully gifted Som there. Initially this wine was mysterious - nice aged black cherry but then just DIED in the middle, then came back with a roaring earthy thatch-like finish, gritty, and slapped you across the face. Because of this? It was decanted while we finished the white wine. After about an hour the wine was tried again. Dusty rose color on the pour. The nose was all about the aged black cherry, cobweb, even detected a hint of cinnamon and perhaps oregano? Basil? Kind of interesting. Initial note was black cherry and fig, aged well with a rather chalky and dusty front. The wine did get quite a bit earthy and spicy towards the middle, and finished almost in a rather youthful way with quite a bit of tannin actually still present. I was very impressed with this one. It is JUST getting started - look for this one to get even better over the next 7-8 years.
