Tuesday, April 19, 2016 - Excellent QPR (but I got it as a closeout!). I thought this wine was a little disjointed. Other's at the tasting thought it was well balanced and had good acidity. For me, it was a little over the top on sweetness and did not show enough acidity to balance out the sugar, but I am hopeful that will change with age. I think the acid may be there, but the sugar was overwhelming it.

The wine was young, and color was between straw and gold (maybe like a light honey color, more toward yellow than orange). The texture was excellent, as the wine had nice legs that coated the glass and flowed slowly down. On the nose were the scents of honeysuckle, dried peached, orange rind and verbena. The palate was dominated by honey, burnt sugar and sweet cream, with hints of orange, tangerine and apricot. Some acid was present on the finish, but it was well hidden in the background.

This was a pleasant wine now, but I will wait on opening my remaining bottles. I could have scored this wine a point or two higher, but it paled next to the 2003 Sine Qua Non Nobleman served with it.
