Friday, April 5, 2013 - This is dark. Glass-coating dark. On the nose is (not surprisingly) dark fruit, with some chalkiness and tinge of alcohol. On the palate, it was a bit astringent at first, but after about 1.5 hours of air, things have fallen into balance - and while the wine is still quite grippy and drying on the finish, the fruit is able to shine through with mostly plums and darker berry fruit. The finish is of good length, but again the alcohol spikes a bit on the finish, detracting from what would otherwise be quite appealing. I'd recommend a bit more time in bottle on this one.
