Thursday, August 25, 2022 - A vintage rated as very good by Broadbent and unfairly overlooked after the great 61. A bottle for my 62nd birthday.
Had tasted a Bordeaux bottled one in 93 which was odd and medicinal. This bottle Chateau bottled with excellent label and mid shoulder level. I would not normally buy with a level this low. Cork came out in one piece much to my surprise. Colour of light brick. Complex nose of Cola, mushroom, tobacco and farmyard. Later anise. Smooth on the palate and still with plenty of very soft tannins. Finish shorter than it would once have been. Well past it's best even for a lover of old claret but still an interesting and enjoyable drink.
