Wednesday, January 18, 2006 - Evolved garnet color. Spicy, complex nose that somehow reminds me (and I am not alone...) of....a good German Spätburgunder...go figure. Rather prominent wood still (this is almost 10 years old). The whole package, despite the very ripe vintage also shows some green notes hinting at less than perfectly ripe grapes. First impression on the palate is a curious mixture of jammy, smoky fruit, but again a displeasing green dill-pickle note is detectable as well. After some air, it got better on the palate with more fruit showing, but astill not a really great exammple of a village Morey. I found the 98 version of this wine much more to my liking. Drink now to 2009.
