Sunday, August 12, 2007 - Quite surprisingly good for what it is. Good bright fresh straw color; nose is cool with a light touch of butter and grilled nuts, much more prominent is a white pepper and nutmeg note. Palate is brisk, mineral and still fresh fruit driven. A very distinctive and stony last half, perhaps s touch rustic, but I find it very appealing. This was a fine match for seared tuna with a black olive, pastis and orange zest tapenade and a salad of fresh corn and shaved fennel. One of many 2001s that Vineyard Brands chose to dump in the U.S. retail market at very low cost and very fine drinking indeed for under $15 a bottle. JUST SAY NO TO "POINTS."
