Sunday, December 24, 2017 - This matched really well on Christmas Eve with Norwegian meatballs - a wine of light to medium intensity (typical of 2011) but definitely stood up to the meatballs, which are mostly pork and veal, and the cream sauce that they are served in. Medium finish, nice nose of red and black berries with some pomegranate notes, too. For a vintage that wasn't particularly well-received, this wine is a true standout. It is drinking superbly in 2017, I expect it will be just as good 4 years from now. The finish was surprisingly long and this was a really well-balanced wine.
