Wednesday, November 19, 2014 - Poured from a 375. This wine is packed with barnyard earthiness and it could really use an hour decant to blow off those aromas. The tannins are well hidden and the acidity lurks but never intrudes into the fruit. On the palate this has a smokiness that is very prominent on the initial palate. The mid palate fills in with peppery notes and iron, and the wine finishes with a roasted black cherry. Overall, this is a rustic and chewy wine as one would expect.

The key is to give this some time to blow off. This really improved after about 3 hours.
