Awesome value 10 years ago around 5€ cellar door for half bottles. Still good grip with pepper and some red fruit in the bouquet. One of my last bottles, but quite amazed, how well it developed and hold together.

Pretty middling northern Rhone syrah - not bad at all, but very much a middle of the road effort that neither excites nor repulses. Nose violet, blackberry, black tea, leather, tobacco. Palate balanced, soft. plenty of fruit, indications of oak, mineral and tannins. Moderate finish. a tad tannic relative to the rest of the wine.

This is in a very good place. Just on this side of mature but drinking very well. Raspberries and black raspberries on the nose. Black olives and some licorice. Good acidity. Mild tannins. This should age well for a decade I think. Went well with the food. At around $25, there is a lot of value here.

Moscow, cafe "Andy's friends". Not an outstanding wine, but quite good for basic. Rich in color, crimson, bright, slow expressed tears, no sediment; in the aroma at first is vegetable only, then reveals red berries, a lot of black pepper, sweetness, a little vanilla, dried raspberries, vegetable remains. In the first taste rather tartly, high acidity, slightly burning, red sour berries, med/full-body, moderate tannin; opening gives sweetness and warmth, berries bouquet - a lot of sour cherry, unripe strawberry, cranberry, fragrant raspberry; an aftertaste is long enough, burning, with sour berries, slightly tart.

Good color. The nose shows aromas of dark berries, smoke, flowers and a hint of pepper. This is medium bodied on the palate, with good concentration but a lack of class. Round and easy to drink. The medium length finish features slightly rustic tannins.

nose of leafy red and black cherry, with blackberry following. tangy green herbs, tight black pepper, and rich garrigue. big whiff of smoked meats.
medium. polished texture bright plummy acid, but the structure is fairly integrated. no sharp tannins.
pepper, spice, and garrigue notes overshadow the zesty black fruit on the palate. fruit is mostly plum and mixed cherry. salty charred meat is balanced by a candied ginger note but the black pepper persists throughout.
the oak makes brief appearances with passing aromas of cocoa, vanilla bean, and espresso, but never jumps out of line. furthermore, a clean gravelly minerality adds depth to the nose and palate.
overall this is a well made, well structured syrah that falls just shy of fantastic for the price. call me American, but i would have liked a tad more fruit to fully round out the wealth of savory and spicy notes.

A powerhouse of a wine. Not the most complex, but bold, rustic, peppery, and espresso driven Syrahs do not get much better. Also showing notes of smoke, sap, garrigue, juniper, and jerky. sappyA kickass ride, probably excellent with grilled red meats. 91-92.

Dark ruby color turning crimson at the rim with a nose of dark fruits, incense, minerals, iodine, and violets. The palate is full-bodied, well-structured, with a firm texture and lively acidity. Flavors of plum, raspberry, cherry, currant, smoked meat form the core. Very well-made as it shows enough depth and complexity. Finishes with gentle tannins and smoked wood. Drink now until 2025.

Poured from a 375. This wine is packed with barnyard earthiness and it could really use an hour decant to blow off those aromas. The tannins are well hidden and the acidity lurks but never intrudes into the fruit. On the palate this has a smokiness that is very prominent on the initial palate. The mid palate fills in with peppery notes and iron, and the wine finishes with a roasted black cherry. Overall, this is a rustic and chewy wine as one would expect.
The key is to give this some time to blow off. This really improved after about 3 hours.

So well made, this one starts with some dark cherry, spices and coffee, a touch of chocolate in a medium body, nicely polished with friendly tannins. The good balance is what makes a difference, accessible now but definitely will be better in 2-3 years.

Three and a half hour decant, the pour is a deep purple with a few slow moving legs, the alcohol content is not particularly high. The bouquet has a touch of sage to go along with a nutty component and dark fruit. The palate has a pepper and is on the delicate side with acidity, the tannins are soft so if you like rounder wine this is for you. A polished, easy mouthfeel and a medium length finish, this is a fine wine at this price point.

As mentioned in others' reviews, this wine really deserves to be served with a grilled piece of amazing beef or lamb. The gamey and barnyard funk is there for those who love it, but it's in perfect balance with the dense blue/black fruit notes. If there's a flaw, it's in the lack of any tannic backbone which would be a welcome counter to the jammy black fruit. Drink up!

A carnivores wine! Meaty and yet with an uplifting and earthy acidity. The soil comes through beautifully in this vintage, feels very chalky and alive! It is essential to control the temperature, serve it 18-20 C and you will feel this surgical precision, otherwise it might feel unfocused. A touch of oak and nice tannins suggests it will continue to deliver well in this way another 3 years before transforming and showing mature Syrah notes. Should drink really well until 2020! Since it is very well made I would not expect it to gain more points, just change character. A carnivores wine since it would be the perfect match to red meat and a fat sauce!

As mentioned in others' reviews, this wine really deserves to be served with a grilled piece of amazing beef or lamb. The gamey and barnyard
funk is there for those who love it, but it's in perfect balance with the dense blue/black fruit notes.

Excellent! Un vin bien équilibré avec des tanins enrobés. Un nez puissant il demeure en bouche une éternité. Encore!
