Thursday, January 19, 2006 - Dark garnet to the rim in color. Nose shows cassis, cedar, tobacco, and leather. On the palate this wine is still very young. Cassis is met immediately by a hard Bordeaux backbone of oak and tannin. Tobacco and smoke also play into the palate. This spent two hours in a decanter and definitely opened up over that time, but it still needs at least a few years to show its best. Lots of stuffing, however, reveals that it should develop well.
