Saturday, July 24, 2021 - A great bottle from a vintage that is very good but not amazing. Still displays a fairly dark red with tinges of purple coming out of the bottle. We drank undecanted (following advice of other reviews) and it was a good call. On the nose, there are beautiful elements of charcoal, earth, tobacco, and dark fruit. The palate is a bit more austere but well structured with tannin still present and a core backbone of fruit holds up the wine nicely. Typical barnyard elements present the whole way through. My only slight complaint is that after about two hours the fruit faded just a touch, but not enough to detract from the score. Just a terrific expression of Bordeaux, as always.
