Community Tasting Note

93 Points

Tuesday, October 22, 2019 - I paid $110 for this a number of years ago and have 1 bottle left. It’s hard to drink a bottle with an upper $300 auction value even with prime filet mignon. I’m a believer that no wine is worth more than about $100, I guess unless you are a 1 percenter and although this was quite good, it makes the point. Nose included sous bois, ketone-like notes (maybe more like nail polish of days gone by) and crushed blackberry. Caressing blueberry, black pepper and smooth tannins frame the wine with a feminine feel. Some length to the finish. $110, maybe, $300....????

MORE importantly, what's your fave guitar? (mine a '97 PRS McCartey)

I think I saw where Tanzer called out the VA in the wine as well but he still gave it a 92 or 93. Amongst about a dozen, I own a Taylor Liberty Tree guitar and it’s my treasure. Look it up.

The VA tolerance thing is interesting, kinda like Brett. A little doesn't bother some folks (me). My VA tolerance is low. My '02 PI didn't show it...

I've known about that Taylor series (through the grapevine, as it were), but just like an '82 Petrus, only seen it once and didn't get to play/drink. Awesome that you own one! Playing that must be like opening the $300 bottle, you want to be careful AND have fun!
    Cheers!

10/23/2019 2:40:00 PM - I’m not tolerant of VA that is more like vinegar but this didn’t come off that way and my diatribes against Brett in my copious CT tasting notes is a thing of legend. I only bring the Taylor to church on Christmas and Easter and I put a stand dent in the Englemann top the first time I used it. I really don’t play it enough for its own good and I don’t advertise, don’t need a break in. I ordered sight unseen from Sam Ash in Chitown, $5800 I think. But it is a piece of American history.

12/26/2020 12:24:00 PM - This guy Grinner seems to be some sort of Wine-Troll (which I didn’t know was a thing). He routinely seems to insult people that make honest and reasonable judgements. For what reason ? I can only think to draw attention to himself? Would advise not replying and/or telling him to FO (in old currency). I don’t think this is reasonable or pleasant behaviour...
