Thursday, March 27, 2008 - Interesting, but odd at the same time. It had a varying blend of fruit and vanilla on the nose, but the palate exhibited a very ruby port like start, but a smokiness mid palate finishing with the vanilla and some heat. Funny sidebar - a relative brought delicious Uraguain desserts and asked what we might possibly drink with them and almost fell on the floor when I revealed this dessert wine from Uraguay! It did work well with those desserts, but I don't think I'll be looking for it again. The smokiness I experienced didn't make me want too much more of it.
