Wednesday, September 25, 2013 - This was the biggest oak bomb of all the cabs from Heitz, but the big red fruit made up for that, with earthen soils and gravel, cedar from the oak and a touch of plumb and figgy pudding. This has big tannins, but somehow the are manageable. The 2007 was the most polished with the least noticeable heat. I think Plumpjack may be a better choice for the $80 price tag, but this is a pretty nice single vineyard. This is the only non organic of their vineyards. Long drying tannin finish with some residual fruit. Classic old style cab.
