Saturday, February 2, 2013 - Kooyong Estate Single Vineyard Pinot tasting (Cloudwine South Melbourne): Of the 2010 Single vineyard Kooyong Pinot Noirs, this is definitely the best this year. I think the vineyard is starting to come into its own now, and while I've always had a soft spot for the Ferrous, it has been eclipsed in the previous two vintages by other single vineyard releases. Not this year.

This has the darkest berry profile of this vintage's wines and there are Asian spices galore to work with the ripe and intense fruit. The palette structure is quite mineral driven with tart tannin texture, which I think means that this guy is going places. I won't be touching my stock for at least 4 to 5 years and I can see this going well into the 2020s.
