Sunday, February 22, 2015 - I usually love Black Kite - their Pinots are often unabashedly fruit-forward and extracted, but rarely overdone, and keep very true to their Anderson Valley origins (though I think Black Kite has started purchasing fruit from other areas).
Sadly, this '10 River Turn is not distinctive (in February '15). A little thin, lots of acid and edgy fruit without layers or distinctiveness. Not a bad wine, just not in a place where it evokes a sense of place or of occasion.
