Nice nose of black cherry and spices, medium ruby in color. A medium to full bodied Pinot. Very similar to my last rating on this. Nice drinker, and enjoyable but noting that really stands out as spectacular.

Blackberry, raspberry, and plum fruit with a nice core of subtle spice, licorice, and caramel notes throughout. Has a long finish to it, good wine. Last one for me...bummer.

This wine was a real roller coaster. Had 3 bottles. Drank the first one about 2 years ago, and it was spectacular. Drank the second bottle about 1 year ago. It was not awful, but was no where near the first bottle and poor in light of the price point. This last bottle was much better......but not quite what the first bottle showed. Since, the last bottle got better, I have a hard time concluding the root cause might have been my storage. One of the mysteries of wine..........but, I am not used to this type of experience with PN.

Much better than the last bottle I had, just four months ago. Very well made. Fruit forward California style, but some dustiness and complexity that make it special. Ready to drink now - hard to imagine it getting much better with time.

I usually love Black Kite - their Pinots are often unabashedly fruit-forward and extracted, but rarely overdone, and keep very true to their Anderson Valley origins (though I think Black Kite has started purchasing fruit from other areas).
Sadly, this '10 River Turn is not distinctive (in February '15). A little thin, lots of acid and edgy fruit without layers or distinctiveness. Not a bad wine, just not in a place where it evokes a sense of place or of occasion.

Medium dark color, focused, ripe cherry, ripe raspberry, baked raspberry, well defined, cherry tart, raspberry, mineral evident. Nice finish. Just a really nice drinking pinot. Another nice effort from Black Kite. I'm a fan.

A bold nose of black cherry and spices, medium ruby in color. A medium to full bodied Pinot, with black cherry, blueberry, Dr. Pepper and spices on long finish. First time trying Black Kite, a very good wine. www.winelx.com

Decanted 1 hour and rebottled. Dark cherry and a little smoke and spice on the nose. Dark cherry and black raspberry fruit on the palate with a little more acidity than the previous bottle. Nice minerality. Moderate finish with some spice on the back end. Very good but hasn't developed into the wine I thought it would be. Still time for improvement though.

Moderate nose of dark fruit, black cherry, tea, ripe plum and vanilla. Good weight with pronounced almost stewed fruit of black cherry and raspberry. A bit fat with long spicey finish.

Very enjoyable wine. Fruity and complex. Ready to drink now. However, I do not believe this wine will last as long as some professional reviewers imply for some other vintages. I say drink by 2017.
Opened this bottle at a wine dinner, and it was the unanimous favorite Pinot of six from CA/OR. Great depth, complexity, fullness, and flavor. Great example of Anderson Valley fruit.

Decanted 2 hours and rebottled. Very interesting nose of dark fruit, clove, mushroom and a little barnyard. Black cherry fruit on the palate with notes of mushroom, forest floor and spice. A little lower on acidity than i was expecting but still quite fresh with nice complexity even at this early stage. Long finish with some spice and moderate tannins with just a little heat. This is very primary and i felt it was a little disjointed. Sure to improve over the next year or two and promises to be an outstanding Pinot. (NR).

Tasted at the Black Kite fall release event. This wine had the biggest fruit of the '10s. I'm us this will age well, but I would drink this sooner than the other Kites.

Generous nose, some heat (B+/B++). Good concentration on the palate. Seems to have quite a few years left. (B++/A-)

A little disappointing. My first bottle was spectacular. This one was good, but not up to the original standard.....more one-dimensional.

Outstanding bottle. Very Burgundian in style but Sonoma fruit nonetheless. Let it develop in the glass.
