96 Points

Friday, February 23, 2018 - This wine has only gotten more complex and rich in the 17 months since I tasted it last (10/16 - 95 points). The power and intensity here are what is most impressive, as the wine shows no signs of letting up. It's an exceptional wine, especially at the price point (about $100).

This has the same dark red color and fullness in body as before, but the nose has added a bit more burnt wood, to go along with the graphite and blackberry. The tastes have fruit notes of black cherry and ripe raspberry, but the secondary characteristics are asserting themselves more now - mocha, chocolate shavings, rosemary, and baking spices. There is a dryness to the finish I didn't notice before, but the integration more than makes up for it. 14.9% alcohol. Blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 15% Petit Verdot, and 9% Merlot. Drink in next few years.

This is still a New World wine - ripe fruit, full body - but it's added a little Old World subtleness - integrated and dusty tannins, herbal notes. It's quite impressive, and it's quite good.
