Friday, April 30, 2010 - This was part of a label-free batch of 1966 Quinta do Noval, but the cork (which came apart under the pull of the corkscrew) very clearly had 1960 branded on the side, which was a pleasant surprise. On the nose and on the palate, it was a great treat. Beautifullly aged. Fruit, showing pleasing signs of age, was still clearly present. Alcohol, acid and tannin all well resolved and perfectly balanced with the evolved fruit. In the mouth, it rewarded with a modest peacock-tail display. Last bottle of the night, but it still disappeared rather quickly.
