Thursday, May 18, 2023 - This too had the classic Pauillac aromas at first, but then branched out towards red cherry and redcurrant, with some rose and violet too. More gentle than the Duhart, with an attack of soft blackberry, then a middle section of creamy blackcurrant and vanilla, and a very fresh, well-rounded finale featuring some wild strawberry. Again, utterly classic with its effortless charm. Delicious.

Very much a return to form, after several bad or indifferent bottles, on the basis of this bottle it has many years of pleasure left too. I always preferred the 01 to the 00 but it’s been a while since I tried a HBL 00 so I don’t know if it still holds true today.
