90 Points

Tuesday, July 28, 2015 - Appearance: Clear wine with a Deep Ruby colour.

Nose: Clean nose with a Medium+ intensity. This wine is developing.

Ripe black fruit sings right out of the glass - blackberries, plums, soft anis. Well integrated French oak is a pleasant counterpoint and adds vanilla and sweet nutmeg along with some smoky notes. Tobacco leaf and just a hint of cedarwood from the 10% Cabernet Sauvignon rounds this off nicely.

Palate:
Dry
Medium+ Alcohol
Medium+ acidity
Medium+ tannins
Medium+ intensity
Medium+ body
Long finish

The palate echos the nose and once again the ripe black fruit is quickest off the mark. Along with the oak there is an earthiness to this wine that balances the fruitiness pleasantly. A crisp and long finish - very pleasant and rounded Ribera del Duero.

Excellent quality Ribera del Duero. This wine could be drunk now or could definitely gain some depth and smoothness from bottle ageing. Premium priced at around 22-25 euros a bottle and absolutely worth it. This wine is a very good example of just how elegant and composed Ribera del Duero can be without paying huge amounts for the top names.
