90 Points

Saturday, December 28, 2019 - Popped, poured and consumed over the course of dinner and the following 2 hours. This bottle was clearly not ready for prime time drinking, and I will do my best to not open another until 2025. Primary notes of black fruits, hints of vanilla, mocha and earth. Lacking in depth and texture at this moment, a bit stern on the mid palate. Fingers crossed that 5-10 more years in the cellar brings out some magic!

12/30/2019 10:59:00 AM - Hmmmm, interesting...usually these BD can be had at 10 years in, sometimes I find them better at the 15 year mark. Or, maybe this was just a bad bottle? Or maybe needed more than 2 hours? Some of these BDX don't really fly til 3-5 hours of air his them. That can make it difficult to take them to many restaurants, unless you have them there and already decanted for you when you arrive....and that's very difficult to do in all but a very few limited circumstances.
