Sunday, March 16, 2014 - Opened and decanted 3 hours prior to dinner of grilled BBQ pork loin, grilled yellow potatoes, and a hearty feta/fruit salad. Dark, purple, cloudy color with a violet hue around the rim. The nose didn't fully emerge until after hour four, but it eventually brought a nice floral bouquet, including fresh spring violets and roses, along with candy cane, spearmint, lavender, and touches of herbs. The full-bodied palate is extremely textured, rich and savory, flowing with green raspberries and loads of black cherries, black currant, rich blackberry pie, and cinnamon toast. It concludes for almost a full minute with with notes of fresh strawberries, mint, and eucalyptus against some chewy tannins and firm acidity. This should age extremely well. Drink 2015-2030.
