Saturday, May 4, 2013 - A bit disjointed tonight, but still a powerful and well-made effort, the 2007 Vina Fausto Orellana provides a nose full of clean cool fruit combined with wet stone and somewhat misbehaving oak. The palate also provides a nice experience, but here to the oak from time to time takes a too strong grip. Tannins are quite equivoque and they will need considerable time to mellow. I am not sure why this wine behaves in this quite "teenager" like way, but it certainly does tonight. I see no reason not to pop a bottle if given the opportunity, after all we are talking about skillful winemaking. For sure the wine will keep on developing if given the opportunity.
