Saturday, November 28, 2020 - I found it hard to decide tonight whether to go Burgundy or Barolo, and as it happens this was quite a Nebbiolo-esque Burgundy. Relatively dark in colour, and medium-bodied, it was nevertheless obvious from the first sniff that this was at the brisk end of the Burgundy spectrum; the acidity made it work well to accompany lamb shoulder, but less of a joy to finish the bottle off on the sofa. I wouldn't describe this wine as at all green, but it did feel a bit pinched on the mid-palate. That actually got more noticeable with air - perhaps 91/92 for my first glass and 89/90 for my last - so I fear this wine may fade out rather than blossom (although who knows with Burgundy?!).
