Thursday, July 17, 2014 - Ruby color. Medium intense nose let on to cherry, white pepper, freesia, vanilla and petrol. On the palate, dry with medium to high acidity as well as medium tannin. Full-bodied with flavors of red and black cherry, vanilla and pepper spice. Long finish. Carefully oaked creature. Just enough oak to add some vanilla tones but so much to render a coffee/espresso tone (from a dark toasted barrel) that in my opinion takes the fruity joy out of what Pinot Noir is all about. The cherry fruit and acidity paired nicely with braised lamb shanks.
