Monday, January 28, 2019 - Venue: Public Service Wine & Whiskey, Houston; General Notes: Whelp, I’m not going to explain why this single vineyard Chardonnay from Kenton Valley in the Adelaide Hills is named this, except to say that it has something, ahem, to do with, um, certain characteristics of the grower. Enough said. Wild yeast, nine months bâttonage, and 10 months in 10% new French oak. Dirty vanilla and smoke, not too oaky, a bit tart with an acidic finish. Kinda like a muted trumpet when you’re expecting a French horn.
