  Venue: Public Service Wine & Whiskey, Houston; General Notes: Whelp, I’m not going to explain why this single vineyard Chardonnay from Kenton Valley in the Adelaide Hills is named this, except to say that it has something, ahem, to do with, um, certain characteristics of the grower. Enough said. Wild yeast, nine months bâttonage, and 10 months in 10% new French oak. Dirty vanilla and smoke, not too oaky, a bit tart with an acidic finish. Kinda like a muted trumpet when you’re expecting a French horn.

  Very interesting wine. Initial notes are similar to Pouilly-Fuissé, the aroma and color are very similar as to. Rich in tropical fruits. Strong backbone. 20 minutes later some oaks appears and it turns out to be California's. Interesting.

  BK wines is not your average producer, the logo, the label, all giveaways that there is nothing conventional about this Adelaide Hills producer. The 2012 One Ball Chardonnay aligns with these expectations.
  
  The nose has lime zest, grapefruit and a suggestion of stone fruits that gives an insight into the wines youth, purity of fruit and the precise acid to come on the palate.
  
  This palate is all about texture and the interplay between zesty citrus fruits and the richer nectarine characters that are itching to express themselves.
  
  It starts with tangy nectarine that is supported by some slight vanillin oak characters on the mid palate, sour edged citrus then takes hold, and along with tightly coiled mineral acidity delivers superb focus and depth on the finish.
  
  This wine has an impressive future ahead of it, requiring and rewarding time.

  This is a wonderful food wine. A little oak, no butter and a lot of different citrus in a long, long, complex finish. I'm sure it will be better with a little age, but why wait? If a wine can be described as "fun" this is it!

  Very well balanced, redolent of lemon, pineapple and tart apple. A touch of oak and butter Extremely long finish. This wine is a winner, big time! Probably will benefit from another year or two of bottle age, but just so delicious right now that you wouldn't want to wait. One last thing, please don't over chill this beauty.
