Should've decanted wine for 3-6 hours. Or waited 3-4 years. Nice acids which were refreshingly cool. Moderate tannin. Definite 'cool climate' profile here.
Edit: I forgot to say that I liked this wine and have full confidence it's going to morph into something terrific. A sip this morning revealed more going on and a hint of some of the benefits of air and aging. This wine is probably even better drunk the next day if consuming in the near term. 92++ points

3/4/2015 7:14:00 AM - Yes, lots of air helps here. I drank one of these last Fall and realized there is plenty of more room to improve for the wine. And to think, a tough year to make wine, and with Thomas making virtually no syrah, this wine really drinks great. Thanks for the note. PS--try the 2012 if you have access to it. Darker, less cool climate in tone and a bit deeper in CA fruit. Real good, too.

I did purchase some of the 12 but bought more of the 11s based upon the vintage characteristics. (This was a blind purchase for me). I will jump into a 12 here soon.

3/4/2015 9:58:00 AM - Hey, thanks for the reply. When you open that 12, lots of air will be good for it. Don't judge it right from the first glass unless you ox it real well. By the way, it will stain everything it touches, as it is like pen ink--such a beauty. Curious, where did you pick it up from? I know the owner of the wine label very well and I would be curious to tell him another wine lover found their way to his wines.
