Tuesday, March 3, 2009 - We've been talking recently about the potential for zin to age. So I opened my oldest zin here in PC.

Great clean, deep purple color. Nice Zin nose of blackberry, cedar, earth and leather. After an hour in the glass, it opened up and the blackberry, plum, licorice, white pepper and forest floor. Nice long finish.

I cannot say this improved with age as I didn't drink any in recent memory. But, I can say that this is still young, peppery (in a zin sort of way) and very refreshing with our pasta and spicy meatball dinner. This wine is still exactly what an excellent zin should be at 8 years-old ... or three.
