Friday, June 8, 2018 - World's Greatest, Hong Kong - Night II (Garden Suite, Peninsula Hotel): The nose is darker than that on the ‘90 and isn’t as fresh up front with a little more earth influence. A little swirling yields the same cool blue fruit. This palate is sweet red fruit at maturity. Higher acid. Absolutely delicious. A little dirtier but still so aromatically complex.

    6/13/2018 12:02:00 AM - At this time, Roumier had two bottlings of Bonnes-Mares; one from terres rouges that was sold in the U.S.A. (it would have a Châteaux and Estates import strip), and one from terres blanches that was sold elsewhere. Do you know which you had?

    I thought the only time the Bonnes Mares were bottled (and labeled) differently was ‘88 with the Vieilles Vignes?

    6/13/2018 12:48:00 AM - 1988 was the only time Christophe did a vieilles vignes, but that included both terres rouges and terres blanches. Up through 1985, there were the two unblended cuvées (and to this day, Christophe does bottle for himself some unblended wine from each soil) with the distribution as I said in my previous post. I'm pretty sure 1986 was the first vintage that he blended the two cuvées, but certainly by 1989 he was doing it.
