Thursday, July 22, 2021 - As a southern rhone lover I don’t have the expertise or vocabulary to do this justice, but here goes: surprisingly savory, almost saline, and a nice citric bite. I did not expect a Burgundy to have such a mineral profile but maybe that shows my naïveté! Limestone and clay, makes sense now. Maybe not so different from rhone terroirs after all. Gigondas minus the spice, and swapping in some pinot to make things a bit lighter. Dark fruit but by no means fruit forward.
