Tuesday, December 26, 2017 - Decanted for about an hour before starting consumption. Olive and black fruits on the nose. Oak still dominates throughout on the palate, but after you get past that (was pretty heavy to us and we do like Cali wines) the palate has some northern Rhône characteristics. Nice olive tapenade finish with perhaps a touch of heat at the end. If I had other bottles, I would let this sit and see if the oak becomes more integrated in 2 to 3 years. It shows very little signs of aging at this point. Perhaps a longer decant may help as the oak presence decreased after 2 hours.
