Thursday, April 24, 2014 - This was a welcome surprise after a recent string of somewhat disappointing bottles from this house. Whereas the past few varietals I've tried have been just masked behind oak and jam, this wine was pleasantly expressive of the varietal. I could sense the relation to the French Mourvedre I've tried (mostly blended) in the past. The wine has a soft red fruit profile with a hint of dirt and rocks on the nose; this is a wine that is fairly medium in body and acid and would likely pair well with food (I had it on it's own). Medium + finish, this is drinking very well!!!
