Saturday, August 8, 2015 - Barolo from Traditional Producers (Portland, OR): The nose is smoky, holding scents of grilled steak, roses, and a saline element as well. The savory scents become even more intense after the wine has spent more time in the glass. Juicy cherries, skins intact, start things out when tasted. Great acidity shows light character, and as it rises it brings bright floral flavors along for the ride. Grilled beef and cherries linger on the mid palate, and some cranberries settle into the edges of the mouth. Underneath it all, there’s an edge of leather that provides reserved structural support.
