2012 La Dame de Montrose

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Friday, November 3, 2023 - Pulled from cellar mid-afternoon to stand up and warm up. Decanted through a Rabbit aerator to catch the (significant) sediment. Drank from 30 minutes to an hour and a half after decanting. I think allowing to come up to temp helped here, as did the air, but it didn't need hours. Right out of the bottle the wine was tight and tart. Much less barnyard than previous bottle, and blew off quickly. Nose opened up nicely but not sure the taste quite lived up to it. Fruit was subdued, with strong undertones of flint and gravel, but better balance than previous bottle. Blind I would have sworn the Cabernet here was of the Franc variety.
