95 Points

Thursday, April 8, 2010 - Dark garnet red. Dark plums, black pepper, cedar, coffee, pencil shavings, and spice on the nose. Notes of juicy ripe plum, pencil lead, and spiced wood in an earth, coffee, and tobacco structure. The pencil lead and spice, with a bit of plum, linger on in the 45+ second finish. Somewhat silky mouth-feel, VERY smooth. This is one of those rare and wonderful wines that gives you a very strange, almost narcotic buzz after just a few sips.

EDIT: This wine needs at least two hours to fully open up. I thought it was phenomenal before it was completely open, but in returning to the last glass noticed that it had really come alive. I upped my score from a 94 to a 95.
