Tuesday, November 20, 2007 - Now that's what I call an awesome Bordeaux nose or better: Cabernet Sauvignon nose! Blackberries, Cigar Box (a lot), Vanilla, leather and some nice (almost Burgundian/Pinot Noir) floral components that bring some freshness to this rather serious and classic wine. What I like about this wine (and Bordeaux in general) is the ability to produce a long finish on the palate without showing the alcohol (so, not Australian at all). From my understanding that's one of the things you would define as elegance or finesse. Downpart of the wine at this point is the young age (of course). The tannins are not harsh in a tongue coating way, but in a bitter way... which I dislike even more... is kinda like chewing on a cigar... in extreme you get this in a lot of South African Pinotages... Still a great experience to drink now, but surely better in 5+ years.
