Monday, February 9, 2015 - Accessible and modern but by no means over-the-top Barbaresco. Nose of violets both fresh and dying/decaying; tea, some anise and a hint of sasparilla. On the palate, flavors of roasted strawberries marinated in balsamic, tea, some sour cherry. Tannins are fairly pronounced and the wine has refreshing acidity, but while the wine works best with food, it can also be drunk alone. Should develop nicely over the next 12+ years.
