96 Points

Thursday, August 6, 2015 - Mostly French dinner - Rayas, 00 Lafite, 13 Trump, H Lignier CDR and etc. (The Grill Room at Capella Hotel Georgetown): Classic ’95 left bank nose. Intense youthful sweet nose displaying decadent black fruits, crème de cassis, licorice, lead pencil, lavender, tobacco, baking spices, cedar and earth. Excellent concentration, chewy, intense ripe black fruit driven palate impression, bright acidity, a hint of dry tannins and long finish. For my palate, the 95 Bordeauxs have impressive concentration and intensely sweet fruits. The drawback is the slightly dry tannins. This is a masculine and structured Haut Brion. At the age of 20, still so darn youthful. It will improve for another 20 years minimum. Very enjoyable in very youthful ways.
