Saturday, June 25, 2016 - Very dark ruby with slight cloudiness, this wine reveals intense blackberry liqueur, anise and fruit cake on the nose. The mouth feel is fuller bodied with cherry compote, cola and subtle mocha. The finish is assertive and relatively long with the blackberry, spices and acidity in excellent balance, easily keeping the 14.1% abv well in check.

Purchased for $48US, this is a fuller bodied, well made, complex offering that is drinking well now. Needs food to show its best, as we discovered when we paired it with braised short ribs it became so much more open and complex.
