Perfect time to drink this wine. Opened for about an hour and paired with grouper in a Cajun butter sauce. Hint of blackberries with a long finish. Fantastic!

Deep dark ruby in color. Soaring aromas of black cherries, dried florals, perfumed spice + wood, hint of forest floor. Broad shouldered palate shows spicy and sweet dark berries, medium acidity, silky tannins and a very long perfumed wood spice finish. This has got a very long life ahead.

The first 90 minutes the wine was very disjointed - minerality, tannins and a bit of low-keyed fruit. Then, after 90 minutes, it all came together and the fruit blossomed. The first 90 minutes I almost poured it out. Glad I didn't.
Give this one plenty of air time. It will last beyond 2022.

Drank with friends along side a 2008 Burgundy. Very different characteristics, but both delicious. This wine drinks like a new world wine with big fruit. The burgundy was soft and had a super long delicate finish.

Beautiful nose with rose, fruit, cherry, secondary notes developing. Plenty of fruit on the palate and tannins to match. Excellent wine with many years left.

A hybrid between New and Old World Pinot, this has an enticing perfume that brims with black and blue fruit, toast, fruitcake, and conifer. There's elegance, complexity, and grace on the palate, with ample fruit, acid, and heft to balance everything out. Toasty oak on the plump and luscious finish. Simply lovely.

Very ripe fruit with depth, slightly jammy but in a good way. Damsons, cherries, forest fruit, positively Pinot with ripeness that you only get in the best vintages and at grand cru level in Burgundy. Smooth texture with fair complexity. Quite sweet but not cloying. Not the subtlest or the most complex but a wine I quite enjoyed.

Very dark ruby with slight cloudiness, this wine reveals intense blackberry liqueur, anise and fruit cake on the nose. The mouth feel is fuller bodied with cherry compote, cola and subtle mocha. The finish is assertive and relatively long with the blackberry, spices and acidity in excellent balance, easily keeping the 14.1% abv well in check.
Purchased for $48US, this is a fuller bodied, well made, complex offering that is drinking well now. Needs food to show its best, as we discovered when we paired it with braised short ribs it became so much more open and complex.

Poured a deep garnet. Nose of leaf mold/forest floor, with hints of raspberry. Palate was light, mostly raspberries again, with some earth. Acid was strong, but tannins seemed very light. Finish was long, focusing on the earth flavors.

Blah.. Totally uninspiring. Tasted like $15 Pinot. Opened up with cherry nothing in the middle and cherry cola finish. Turned me off to beaux freres permanently.

Decanted for filtering and for air approximately 1.5 hours. Re-bottled for transport. Wine left a lot of sediment in the decanter (note that it is unfined/unfiltered). It was dark in the restaurant but wine appeared to present as ruby with light rim. Rich scents of candied cherry and red fruit along with some light spice. Expressive red fruit flavors with hints of earth and spice. medium body, medium acid, medium+ finish with lingering fruit and floral notes. Will wait on the next one until 2017.

4.5 Very well done, particularly for the broader reaching Willamette Valley bottle (entry-level for Beaux Freres). The nose delighted, and the best of classic Oregon pinot shines through the tasting experience.
Update: July 22, 2016 Our host pulled the cork and instantly poured for me and a friend. Even with swirling, the wine proved tight. Our friends who enjoyed the end of the previous bottle experienced a different wine, thanks to more oxygen exposure. Decant or give this wine time in the cellar.

PHMG WAG: 2012 Oregon Pinot Noir (Lyon Den): A fairly dark OPN consistent with the vintage so far, this has black cherry, pie spice, plum, and a touch of mineral. Nice depth and length. One of the more approachable '12's we tasted at this event. Borderline QPR

Some Fine 2011/2012 Willamette Valley Pinots (SF Wine Trading Company): Even medium ruby. Spicy clove nose. Medium weight, lovely seamless feel. Distinctive blood orange note that is uplifting in addition to deep red fruit, mint and cocoa. Very long and round with excellent complexity. I liked this quite a bit.

Willamette Valley for Memorial day weekend and a peak at 2012; 5/25/2013-5/26/2013: Barrel sample. Crazy dark intensity of color for the WV. The aromas are spicy, tart, slightly mineral, and offer plenty of dark fruits on a soft frame. The mid palate entry is a little lean, and not much intensity (quite soft, nearly flabby). Soft texture is nice, but there's not much depth and only mild acidity. Tart finish, mild, and lean, and overall quite awkward and out of balance. (85-87 points)
