Tuesday, December 14, 2021 - Believe this is at peak right now. Gave it about an hour of air with the last 30 minutes in the fridg to chill it slightly. Boy, this is good. No surprise as Greer is pretty consistent (looking forward to the Roy Piper Cabs that start including Greer in 2021).
Starting to show its' age in the color but still very vibrant. Creamy (not syrupy) with piercing dark fruit flavors - blackberry, plum.
After many days on the Winekeeper that last glass included very fine tannins which seemed to result in a burnt toast finish. Not a negative, just very intriguing.
Should last for a few more years, but if I had more I'd drink them sooner than later.

12/15/2021 7:42:00 AM - Ohhh great notes! Would you have liked to drink this one a few years sooner or ~10 yrs of bottle age is a good spot?

12/15/2021 9:33:00 AM - Thanks Wombat. Hope all is well. Here’s a brief synopsis of my Greer experience.
    2009 – drank @ 8 yrs old - rated 96, fantastic
2011 – drank @ 6 ½ yrs old - rated 92, anomaly due to challenging weather (but what if I’d waited?)
2010 – drank @ 11 yrs old – rated 98, mature and mellow but youthfully bright at the same time
    2014 – drank @ 4 yrs old – rated 94, a bit rough and unformed
2014 bottle #2 @ 7 yrs old – rated 98, more mature softer and fantastic
So my takeaway is that, yes, this 2010 would have been drinkable a few years ago and might have been just as good, but it was so good today that I can’t imagine it would have been better.
Based on my experience over these five bottles, the sweet spot seems to start around seven years of age and, as far as I know, extends to eleven years. Though I would guess that this 2010 will maintain this level of excellence for a couple of more years…but, unless one has some reason to, why wait?
    All the best.

12/15/2021 11:32:00 AM - Ohh thank you VERY much for the breakdown and your insight! I was so curious as to how these would benefit with bottle age.

I had to ask because I've had 15-17 and NONE of 'em missed:
    '15 - 98
    '16 - 97
    '17 - 97

    Thanks again for the info!

5/1/2022 9:27:00 AM - Thanks Elkcims. FYI, Roy Piper is now taking some of the Greer grapes for his wine starting in 2021. Check out his Cab if you haven't already. Cheers!
