Wednesday, May 31, 2017 - Probably due to the cold wet year, this has more of a red fruited quality, some slight bell pepper and brambly notes. In a weird way, this shares some qualities with big, super-extracted, CA pinot. I don't necessarily say that is a bad way, but it seems atypical. The spicy oak notes are present, but well integrated and very complimentary to the overall profile. Likewise, the tannins are smooth and nicely integrated. I think this will hold for a few years, but this is probably at or near peak and I would opt to drink this sooner, rather than later.
