Friday, December 4, 2020 - Given 2 hours of air in the bottle. Light ruby. Resiny oak (curiously smelling more American than French), menthol, and a bit of cinnamon. In the mouth, medium weight with a noticeable wood base and a touch of earth. Piquant small black berries, anise, and citrus. Gentle, moderate tannins but little in the way of silkiness. When I tasted this a few years ago, I thought it was a perfect embodiment of village Vosne. Tonight it was merely very good, best for its vivid fruit, but the strong imprint of the wood was both surprising and intrusive. Hard to blame this showing on a shut down phase since it was quite forthcoming.
