I don’t have a lot of experience with 2012 burgundies but this follows suit for MG Vosne. I mean that in all the best ways. Transparent, red fruited, perfect balance, typical spice and earth, long vibrant finish and a level of completeness and satisfaction that goes well beyond most village wines. Fresh. I could drink this five time a week with absolute pleasure. Unfortunately, I have neither the access nor the means to do so. Love this to drink over the next 7 to 10 years. (92)

The one with Tai Wah BCM: Tasted a few days after initial opening and was kept in a airtight bottle. Still so fresh and structured that I had this pegged for 2015/2016. Black plums, tree bark and earthy undertones leap at you before dark cherries, plums and hawthorn spice take over the palate. Great fruit concentration with a sturdyness that only seemed to softened after a few days. Fantastic and a really serious drink for a village!

Very good quality for a village wine which explain for its price point. Pronounced nose intensity with notes of red and black fruits, violet, flora, spices. Finish is medium. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Will improve with ageing.

Good to revisit this in blind. It was floral and red fruit. Good drive on the palate for a village, but the lack of depth and complexity indicate its level when I had it blind.

Earthy aromas. Black cherry and spice flavors. Polished and spherical in the mouth. This was a birthday treat to myself. As usual, punches way beyond it's level. This was fantastic. 93

Pnp, developed beautifully in the glass within some minutes towards a highly elegant wine. Mainly black, but also red fruit, the typical Vosne spice, some (noble) wood. Ready for business.

Just wonderful the nose draws you right in and it’s Vosne. On the palate sour cherry, plums, with a sweet sour interplay. Very finely textured. I had three bottles of this over the last weeks as I just think it’s drinking and ready and day two is weak. So I think this is one of the 12s folks should be pulling corks. Very poised with high acidity and white airy.

This was probably the best village Burgundy I had all year. From the first moment sensual earth and spice notes, so round and pleasing. Not the most complexity here but the drinkability is off the charts. Yeah... that's why people dig Mugneret Gibourg so much I guess.

Given 2 hours of air in the bottle. Light ruby. Resiny oak (curiously smelling more American than French), menthol, and a bit of cinnamon. In the mouth, medium weight with a noticeable wood base and a touch of earth. Piquant small black berries, anise, and citrus. Gentle, moderate tannins but little in the way of silkiness. When I tasted this a few years ago, I thought it was a perfect embodiment of village Vosne. Tonight it was merely very good, best for its vivid fruit, but the strong imprint of the wood was both surprising and intrusive. Hard to blame this showing on a shut down phase since it was quite forthcoming.

Stereotypical fine red Burgundy. Subtle acidity, earthy tones and red fruit, light and thirst quenching. Just doesn’t have anything remarkable. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderful bottle of wine, elegant and flawless but not memorable. Ready to drink.

Wow, this is brilliant. Beautiful perfume of strawberry and spice. Damn this is deep for village level. Elegant and pretty. In the mouth very textural. The wine spreads out across your entire mouth. Pleasant restrained acid and silky smooth tannins. This one was beautifully straight out of the bottle before it took a breath and then came storming back after about 60-90 min in the bottle. Seven years must be perfect for village from this producer in 2012. I take my hat off for Mugneret Gibourg if this wine is even better in a couple of years considering it's so good today. 92-93 pts.

I did not follow my own recommendation and opened the next one: red and black fruit, strawberries, spicy, pure, approachable, but still quite closed. Just at the beginning of its drinking window.

Started out very tight, to the point where a few of us found it unpleasant. Along with a really awkward showing from the 2013 and a shy 2008, I was wondering if my love for this wine was misplaced. We moved on to something else, but an hour later when we came back, we found a much more supple, layered and feathery wine. Spice nuances draped over some deep fruit. The tannin had receded a bit, but this is a structured wine. 3-5 more years, I think.

A superb village Vosne that got better and better over the evening. Concentration that punches above its weight with round, plush and just sweet black cherry fruit. Excellent Vosne typicity with spice abound. Velvety throughout. Just entering a fun drinking window.

2012 Mugneret Gibourg Vosne Romanee Very fragrant / aromatic, lots of red fruits, cherry blossom, violets on the nose; on palate, raspberry, cranberry, rich yet balance with minerality, gentle acidity, modest spices and silky tannin. The fruit is destemmed, no fining/ filtration. They made it from different parcels in the village, mostly on the lower slope of the village (Les Chalandins, Le Pre de la Folie/Les Champ Gourdin/La Colombiere - right next to their domaine, and Les Croix Blanches).

Burgundy Dinner with Friends (Spiaggia - Chicago IL): Opened and decanted 30+ minutes before serving. So beautifully and prototypically Vosne with its red fruit and baking spice. Moderate weight, concentration and length, but with impeccable balance and supreme elegance. This wine perfectly shows why I am so enthralled with Mugneret-Gibourg wines at every level. Good now, probably better in a few more years, and certainly charming through 2032-ish.

Lovely lifted nose, not as much toasted wood as Liger Belair. Less perfumed but more straight and clean. Very transparent nose. Perfect balance on the palate. Medium weight. This is so well made, it almost lacks edges.

Nice 2012 showing with a lot of red fruit and freshness. Nice cru level spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, lemony pepper) are all over the place lifted with classic rose aftertaste. Lacking a bit of complexity and depth that will come with time in bottle. Seductive stuff.
