Saturday, February 20, 2016 - Excessibe Rhone and Riesling night (St. Marks Place Grand Sich, NY): Last of my bottles, but absolutely magnificent. At first there's a vivid green olive and earthy character accented with delicate red fruited and leathery notes, but with more air the fruit deepens and it becomes more meaty and saline. The sense of refinement and finesse on the palate is hard to put into words. I can think of very few wines that have the elegance that this shows on the palate, with an incredible lightness of touch and delicate palate presence despite the intensity of the flavour. There's tremendous length and complexity, a fragrance that keeps building with air, and this bottle was another a wow experience that very much lived up to my expectations.
